This is Pigs Unlimited’s new bypass pig. The spiral pattern you see allows bypass fluid behind the pig to be trapped and channeled against the pipe wall. Which accomplishes several things.
This feature is good for aggressive cleaning of the pipe wall, application of chemicals or treatments to the pipe wall, and the removal of wax or other debris stuck to the pipe.
In situations involving heavy debris, wax or sand it is important to keep particulates stirred up in suspension during the pigging operation, resulting in a safer run and more efficient clean.
